The program syllabus (allmän studieplan) contains the requirements on eligibility for the program, the main contents of the program, and the requirements for the degree.

In broad strokes, the requirements for the PhD degree:

A total of 240 ECTS points, where

• ≥ 120 points through a thesis
• ≥ 60 points through PhD courses, where
  • ≥ 15 points within algebra/combinatorics/number theory
  • ≥ 15 points within analysis
  • ≥ 15 points within differential geometry/geometry/topology
• Further points may be obtained through master courses
• In the 2023 study plan, the course SF3000 Ethics, Sustainability, and Equality is compulsory.

If you started before June 2023, you study according to the old syllabus, but may decide to switch to the new syllabus. If you started in or after June 2023, you have to follow the new syllabus.
